Jashley's Couples Shower

Last weekend we hosted a couples shower for our good friends Jason Perry & Ashley Miller (Jashley).  Jason is one of James' fraternity brothers, and he and Ashley have become wonderful "couples friends" of ours over the last few years.  We are so excited for their wedding this October! Together with Jason & Ashley's friends, Laura & Kyle, we hosted a fun back yard bbq to celebrate their upcoming big day.

We could not have asked for better weather for an outdoor event in the middle of August. We had planned on renting 2 large fans to keep the back deck comfortable for our guests, but we only ended up renting one, thanks to the weather.  To keep things simple and easy, we had the party catered by Fox Brothers barbecue.  We dipped into my never-ending supply of burlap to make a few small touches, including a burlap matted frame of the invitation and burlap wrapped mason jars for the drinks.

Laura has a mason jar beverage dispenser, which worked perfectly with our theme.  We ended up making a punch and named it "Perry Punch".

Remember this post about my monogrammed beverage buckets? Well, when I ordered our acrylic monogram stickers, I went ahead and ordered an extra one, knowing that we would likely host a shower for Jason & Ashley.  We had Jason & Ashley's beverage bucket on display at the shower and it took Ashley a second to realize it was their monogram. I guess our monograms are only one letter apart from being identical...

Jinna Anne & Aidan's Wedding Weekend

Last weekend we celebrated my brother's wedding to Jinna Anne Tucker in Chattanooga, TN.  The wedding weekend kicked off with a Bridal Luncheon at a little tea room called Beyond The Garden Gate.  The venue was so sweet and the tea room that the luncheon was in was truly southern, y'all. I mean, there was a picture of Scarlett O'Hara hanging in the room.  It was a delicious lunch and a fun time to spend with Jinna Anne and the rest of the bridesmaids before she officially became a Clifford.

Later that evening, the wedding party met at the Patten Chapel for the wedding rehearsal.

There was a bit of downtime between the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner, but since my parents were hosting the dinner we went straight to the venue to help get everything set up.  The rehearsal dinner was at the Tennessee Aquarium.  My mom enlisted me to help with the decor for the dinner.  Because the event was in the "River Experience" part of the aquarium, we opted for a rustic theme.

Once the room was all set up we joined the rest of the guests for a cocktail hour overlooking the river.  The dinner was perfect-- delicious food catered by Bluewater Grille, thoughtful toasts and a slideshow of pictures of Aidan & Jinna Anne.  They are one good-looking couple and judging by their baby pictures, they will have some adorable kids one day.

On Saturday, we all arrived at the church for pictures before the ceremony.  It was probably one of the most low-stress, chill afternoons before a wedding (as it should be).  Jinna Anne looked absolutely beautiful-- my brother is one lucky guy!

The ceremony was very touching and I may or may not have teared up a bit when the musicians started singing The Prayer.  It was an honor for both James and I to be a part of the wedding.  We enjoyed each and every special moment of Aidan and Jinna Anne's day.

After the vows we all headed up the mountain to the reception at The Lookout Mountain Fairyland Club.  The reception venue was beautiful and had a stunning view overlooking Chattanooga.  The Tucker's threw an amazing party-- everything about the wedding was perfect.  After the delicious meal we hit the dance floor.  Im pretty sure we were on our feet the whole night dancing!

We couldn't be more thrilled for Aidan and Jinna Anne.  While it seems like Jinna Anne has been a part of our family for awhile, it is now official.  We are so blessed to have siblings and in-laws that aren't just family but amazing friends.  We can't wait to spend time with the happy couple in the years to come.  I see many weekend trips to Birmingham to visit,  fun vacations over the years and hopefully one day raising our families together!

Chattanooga Engagement Party

Last Saturday, we headed up to Chattanooga for Aidan & Jinna Anne's engagement party. As soon as we arrived, we headed straight to Blue Water Grill downtown for a food tasting.  My parents will be hosting the rehearsal dinner at the Tennessee Aquarium and the food will be catered by Blue Water Grill.  After the delicious tasting, we headed to the chapel to see where my brother will be getting married.  The wedding will take place at the Patten Chapel on the UT Chattanooga campus.  The chapel was absolutely beautiful-- stained glass and detailed wood work throughout.  I can't believe that James and I will be standing up at the altar with Aidan and Jinna Anne, witnessing their vows in 3 short months! After taking a quick tour of the chapel, we headed to the Tennessee Aquarium to see the location where the rehearsal dinner will take place.  After looking at the space, we walked around the aquarium to check out the fishies:
As soon as Aidan and James saw the tank where you can pet the sting rays, their sleeves were rolled up and their hands were in the water...Such big kids.

I found an alligator! Those of you who know my obsession with the show Swamp People will understand and appreciate this...

Later that evening James and I, my parents, Aidan & Jinna Anne, and Jinna Anne's parents went out to dinner before the engagement party.

The engagement party was hosted by a good family friend of Jinna Anne's. There were all kinds of delicious deserts, good wine and toasts by Aidan and Jinna Anne's friends & family.  My toasts to the happy couple always seem to start out with "I was never a huge fan of any of the girls Aidan dated until he met you..." (which is so true by the way). It was really fun hearing all of the other toasts and the overwhelming support everyone has for the engaged couple.

Such a fun weekend! We are looking forward to spending more family time this weekend with both my side of the family and James'.  James' sister, Julia, will be delivering her baby either sometime in the middle of the night tonight or tomorrow morning (please keep her in your prayers).  We are so excited to have a new niece or nephew for Christmas!
