4.30.2011

James and I were married a little over a month and a half ago, and these last six weeks have just flown by. It's been a whirlwind to say the least. I only have the best memories when looking back on our wedding day. It's kind of funny, because the last few weeks leading up to the wedding, I was just so ready for it to be here, that I actually even said a few times that I was "just ready for it to be here and over". Not that I was ready to "get it over with" or anything like that. I was just ready to get married and settle into a sense of normalcy. Now that the wedding is over, I wish we could go back and relive the day over and over again. James and I didn't see each other before the ceremony, which made the pictures a little longer after the ceremony, but it was well worth it. I loved seeing his face watching my dad walk me down the aisle. All of the details of the day just turned out perfectly, the band at the reception was so much fun. I remember looking around the dance floor at one point when the band was playing "Shout" and literally every single square inch of the dance floor was full of our wonderful family and friends, dancing, singing, waving their arms in the air. It was a snap shot of our wedding that I will never, ever forget! Many more pictures are coming to facebook soon, but for now here are a few of my favorite pictures from our wedding day

Yes, just a few pictures. Lately, everyone has been asking me, "so how's married life?". It's really hard to sum up in just a few words. A few things I know for sure: I absolutely love coming home every day and getting to spend time with my best friend. James is the perfect match for me because he is so enthusiastic and encouraging about everything. We have been learning a lot about each other. You would think after dating for three years before getting married, we would know pretty much all there is to know, but living together has opened our eyes to many, many more things we didn't previous know. Since I love lists, here is one of things we have been learning about each other:

Things I have learned about JRO:

1. He loves a good thunderstorm
2. He likes his undershirts and t-shirts folded in two different ways, neither of which are the way I fold shirts
3. He likes to listen to music when hes getting ready for work—I’ve never experienced this one, but I get home from work a lot and the ipod player is all set up. I wonder if he sings in the shower?
4. He will always say yes if I suggest we go to yoforia
5. He stays up LATE- I’m talkin 11:30/12 people!
6. He likes Kroger brand Peanut Butter...okay so he likes Kroger brand everything.
7. He loves a good project, fixing things, mowing the yard, blowing the driveway, building things, taking apart locks to figure out how they work and then putting them back together, he loves DOING

Things JRO has learned about me:
1. I like to watch the Today Show in the morning while getting ready for work, and while he is still sleeping (I get up at 6:45, he gets up at 7:45)
2. I like to be in bed by 9:45/10:00.
3. I exaggerate on what time it is (ex: Clock says, 9:15. “Babe, we better get in bed! It’s almost ten!”)
4. I’m still learning how to cook, and even if he offers to help, I like to do it all myself because I enjoy doing things for him
5. I get cranky when I’m hungry (okay, so he already knew this, but he is experiencing it more frequently now that we are living together)
6. I procrastinate on working out
7. I highly dislike when there are droplets of water or pieces of hair on the bathroom countertops and am constantly wiping them down
8. I like to grocery shop at publix because it is clean and all the shelves are organized
9. I drink a green monster for breakfast every morning and while its really just a smoothie with spinach and flax seed oil, I insist on calling them green monsters (just because it sounds cooler….James still calls them smoothies....)
10. I get stressed out over little things sometimes, but I can just as easily be hit with a giggle attack and just think everything is hilarious- am I bipolar?

MARRIED!

We did it! We are officially married! And when I say officially, I mean the ceremony has been performed, the marriage license has been mailed in, and the party has taken place. From what I hear, the fun has just begun with the whole "making it official" process. I'm really looking forward to standing in lines at various governent offices to finalize all of the the legal stuff that comes along with getting married.

We are currently in the process of moving all of my things into James' house and getting settled. I will be posting more pictures and married life updates as soon as life slows down and little and we get used to our new routine (right now it really just feels like we are playing house)!

Bachelorette Weekend

Last weekend six of my closest girlfriends and I headed down to Savannah for my bachelorette weekend. A girls weekend was just what I needed to take my mind off of all the last minute wedding to-dos. We had a blast! Five of us arrived in Savannah around six on Friday evening, and two more were about an hour behind flying/driving in from Indianapolis & Knoxville. We stayed in the Mulberry Inn right on Bay Street.

On Friday night, we had dinner reservations at Rocks on the River in the Bohemian Hotel. Dinner was delicious-- I had the crab cakes. We had so much fun catching up over food and wine. After dinner, we headed up to the top floor of the hotel to a roof top bar called Rocks on the Roof. As soon as we got there we headed straight for the dance floor and didn't leave until the lights came on.

Saturday morning, we all tried our best to sleep in, but ended up getting up around 9.... oh the joys of being grown-ups. Once we all got ready for the day we did a trolley tour of Savannah and stopped at a Mexican restaurant for lunch. Then we walked down River Street, stopping in the open air market and of course, River Street Sweets.

We had dinner reservations at a tapas restaurant called Jazz'd on Saturday night, which was another delicious meal. After dinner at Jazz'd we headed to Savannah Smiles, the dueling piano bar. There were so many bachelorettes there-- at one point they called us up on stage. I'm pretty sure there were like eight of us. Most of the brides-to-be were also getting married on April 30th. Sadly, the weekend had to come to an end. On Sunday we packed up, went to breakfast and headed back to Atlanta.

1 week from today I will be Mrs. Ostenson!! (I'm pretty sure the first time someone calls me that I am going to look around the room for James' mom)

Spring Showers!

In addition to the Monograms and Mimosas shower in February, there were three other wedding showers this spring. On March 13th, my flower girl, Lila and her mom Linda threw a kitchen shower in my honor. I have known Linda for years. She and her husband lived across from my parents house as newlyweds and I went over to hold each of her three children as they were born. Growing up, I babysat for the Grass kids and they all feel like family to us. Here is a picture with the sweet hostesses and a few more pictures from the lovely kitchen shower/bridal tea at the Grass's house:

The next shower was a couples shower on March 19th. The shower was St Patricks Day themed and it was so much fun for James to get the whole "shower experience". Although I would say the couples shower was much more of a party than a shower--either way we had a blast! The shower was hosted by some of our closest friends and was held at James' friend, Fareed's, house in Virginia Highlands. Here are some pictures from the St. Paddys Day shower:

The fourth and final shower was hosted by my Aunts Mary Ellen and Dee Jay. This shower was a bridal tea, and the theme was "Tea and Tiaras". My extremely creative Aunts made little tiaras for everyone to wear and a special bridal tiara for me. It was definitely a verryyy girly shower, with a good time had by all. The shower was the first time Lydia and Lila, my flower girls, got to meet each other. At first Lydia was a little shy, but in no time, her and Lila were in the backyard playing on the swing set. It was so adorable. Here are a few pictures from the tea and tiaras shower:

And now, for the scariest picture of this blogs history thus far....

Can anyone say crazy eyes? James is so lucky that in just 20 short days he gets to wake up to this face for the rest of his life...
